Electric Scooters were once considered a toy or something a senior citizen would use to get around the mall. It would be fun as a kid when mom would let you hop on one for just a couple of minutes before the security guard came over and ruined all the fun. Electric scooters are still as fun as any toy, but now they’re big business.
In cities like New York and Hong Kong electric scooters are the best way to travel. Battery powered scooters are perfect for short trips. Most people don’t have very far to go. Gasoline prices are once again getting out of hand after a short respite, and taxis might as well be airplanes with fares these days.
Electric scooters are efficient. The cost of running an electric scooter is around 25% lower then the cost of gasoline scooters. Scooters for older people tend to stay less than five or ten miles per hour. Another advantage is they can be driven indoors. The small amount of energy used makes for multiple uses between charges. The disability scooter as it’s referred to, usually has three wheels and a basket for carrying goods.
Mopeds however, are even harder to see than motorcycles. This is actually the cause of some accidents. Also contributing is the fact that this type of electric scooter is popular with younger inexperience drivers. While not as fast as some gasoline powered scooters, a couple of electric models do reach high speeds that can be dangerous. Although dangerous at high speeds, electric scooters are a very safe way to travel when obeying the laws of the road.
The low cost of up keep makes electric scooters a great option. While not quite as dangerous as motorcycles, scooters are nearly as much fun. They’re safer on the road then faster more powerful bikes and they’re safer for the eco system. People concerned with environmental safety should love the features of an electric scooter and the price which is drastically cheaper than that of electric cars.
